Childhood BMI may influence future diabetes risk

Childhood BMI may influence future diabetes risk
Low body mass index during infancy followed by rapid weight gain in childhood was associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, research indicates. Data also showed that women with lower infantile BMI and shorter birth height followed by lower BMI in childhood had a higher diabetes risk compared with heavier counterparts. The findings appear on the website of the Journal of Internal Medicine.
