India’s Independence Day Celebrated in Fremont

“Members of the Bay Area's thriving Indo-American community didn't let the 8,000-mile distance from the motherland stop them Sunday from celebrating India's birthday. Instead, they brought India's 69th Independence Day party to Fremont, for a parade and festival attended by about 3,500 people,” reported Tracey Kaplan for the East Bay Times.
The Festival of Globe, formerly known as the Festival of India, took place in Fremont to celebrate India’s independence. The 10-day festival included a film festival, fashion show, dance competition, health fair and other events. In Fremont, about 1 in 5 residents is Indo-American.
As in the past, the Puri Pediatric Medical Group participated in the community health fair on August 13, 2016.
