New AAP policy on telemedicine and workforce shortages
The AAP Committee on Pediatric Workforce developed a new policy statement regarding the workforce implications of telemedicine. The statement, “The Use of Telemedicine to Address Access and Physician Workforce Shortages,” published in Pediatrics this month, reviews issues including pediatric patient access, barriers, incentives, research, funding and payment. It can be used as a tool to advocate on behalf of telehealth technologies in the pediatric health care arena.
